About This Access Site
Cedar Lake in Star Prairie, Polk County, Wisconsin offers a well-developed public boat ramp facility with convenient amenities for paddlers and boaters. The access features two concrete launch lanes with an 11% slope and adequate depth (>3 feet) for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. A spacious 1-acre blacktopped parking lot is located across Rockville Road southwest of the ramp, and the facility includes a port-a-pier, boarding dock, restroom building, and lighting for extended use.

Cedar Lake is a 139-acre lake with a maximum depth of 21 feet, making it suitable for recreational paddling and fishing. The lake maintains a 10 HP motor limit, which means minimal fast boat traffic and generally peaceful conditions for kayakers and canoeists. Note that swimming is not permitted except at a designated beach area. The facility does not have potable water available on-site, so plan accordingly. Nearby paddlers should be aware that the St. Croix Wetland Management District offers additional recreational opportunities in the region, particularly for wildlife viewing and birdwatching.
