About This Access Site
Cedar Lake in Mercer, Iron County offers a well-maintained public boat ramp ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The facility features two concrete launch lanes with an 11% slope and adequate depth (>3 ft) for launching. A blacktopped road and parking area provide convenient access, with a 1-acre parking lot located across Rockville Road southwest of the ramp. The site includes a boarding dock, port-a-pier, restroom building, and lighting for extended use.

Cedar Lake is a 139-acre lake with a maximum depth of 21 feet and operates under a 10 HP motor limit, making it an excellent destination for paddlers seeking quieter water with minimal motorboat traffic. The lake prohibits swimming except at a designated beach area. Note that there is no potable water available at the access site and no marina on the lake. For paddlers without their own equipment, kayak rentals and accessible kayak launches are available at the nearby City of Carbondale boat ramp.
