About This Access Site
Cedar Log Landing (Old) is a single-lane concrete boat ramp located on a short slough just west of the Choctawhatchee River in Walton County, Florida. To access the ramp, turn off CR 181C onto Coon Bottom Road (which becomes Berrian Lake Road), then turn east on Landing Road. Note that a newer Cedar Log Landing facility is also available on the west side of the river at Mile 34.

The Choctawhatchee River is a major waterway—the 8th stream order—with significant flow averaging 7,754 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 1.1 feet per mile. Paddlers can expect a substantial, flowing river suitable for experienced kayakers and canoeists. With 142 miles of river extending to the Gulf of Mexico and a drainage area of 4,527 square miles, the Choctawhatchee offers extended paddling opportunities. The river's average velocity of 2.82 feet per second should be factored into trip planning, especially for upstream paddling. This access point provides a convenient entry for exploring the upper sections of this major coastal river system.
