Charette Lake

Charette Lake is a 241-acre public lake in Mora County, New Mexico, offering paddling and boating opportunities for kayakers, canoeists, and anglers. Electric motors are permitted on the lake. The access point is located at Valdez Place and provides a boat ramp for launching watercraft.

**Important Note on Water Levels:** The boat ramp can become inaccessible during dry years when water levels recede. Before visiting, check current lake conditions, as the ramp may not reach the water. If the primary ramp is unusable, locals have reported that the eastern shore may offer alternative vehicle access closer to the waterline. The lake sits in a deep basin with fairly steep sides, creating scenic paddling conditions.

The lake is popular with anglers targeting trout, particularly during early morning hours in summer months. Plan your visit accordingly and verify access conditions ahead of time, especially during low-water periods.
