The Charlestown Breachway boat ramp provides public access to Ninigret Pond and connects to Block Island Sound, making it a versatile launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized vessels. Located at the north end of the parking lot in Charlestown, this state ramp serves as a gateway to explore the pond's salt marsh, mud flats, and coastal waters. The site is part of the larger Ninigret Park area, with the RI DEM park entrance located about a mile ahead at the road's end.
Paddlers should note that Ninigret Pond offers multiple access options depending on vessel type. In addition to the main Breachway ramp, smaller non-motorized craft can launch from Ninigret Park, Town Dock Road, and Charlestown Beach Road near Creek Bridge—the latter providing access to both Ninigret and Green Hill Ponds. Several commercial marinas (Ocean House, Ninigret Landing, and Shelter Cove) also offer public launching for a fee. **Plan to arrive early during busy beach days, as the parking lot can fill by 9:00 AM.** The site prohibits alcohol, glass, dogs, smoking, and camping, with gates closing at sunset.
