The Bemus Point boat launch provides free public access to Chautauqua Lake via a concrete ramp located on the north side of the park near the Chautauqua Belle dock. The facility features a hard-surface ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and smaller motorboats (not recommended for boats over 16 feet), with ample parking for approximately 30 vehicles and trailers. The site is accessible to the top of the ramp, and additional amenities include bathrooms and informational kiosks.
**Note:** As of September 2, 2025, the Bemus Point Launch and Fishing Access site is temporarily closed for major improvements and ramp replacement work, expected to continue through the end of November. Check the DEC website for updates on reopening. When operational, this location offers convenient access to Chautauqua Lake for day trips and recreational paddling, with designated swimming areas available seasonally (Memorial Day through Labor Day when lifeguards are on duty). The site's proximity to Chautauqua Marina, a family-operated facility with over 50 years of service, provides additional support for boaters needing supplies or services.
