About This Access Site
Cherokee Marina provides boat ramp access to Old Hickory Lake on the Cumberland River in Lebanon, Tennessee, just east of Nashville. The facility offers an easy-access boat ramp with nearby parking, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The nearby Cedar Creek Campground (615-754-4947) offers 60 campsites with full amenities if you're planning an extended trip, and the day-use area includes a swim beach and picnic facilities.

Old Hickory Lake is a major recreation destination ranking third in Corps-wide visitation, offering excellent opportunities for paddling, fishing, and boating. The underlying Cumberland River is a substantial waterway—a major river system with an average flow of nearly 40,000 cubic feet per second and a gentle average gradient of 1.2 feet per mile, making it suitable for various skill levels. The lake itself provides calmer paddling conditions compared to the main river channel, though paddlers should be prepared for potential motorboat traffic typical of popular recreation lakes.

To reach Cherokee Marina from Nashville, take I-40 East to exit 221A, then follow TN-45/Old Hickory Boulevard to US-70/Lebanon Pike. Turn left onto Nonaville Road and continue to the 4-way stop, then turn right onto Saundersville Road to access the facility.
