The Cherokee Mills boat ramp on the Etowah River offers excellent access to Allatoona Lake for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. Located along Bells Ferry Road near the Little River in Canton, Georgia, this facility features three boat ramps and a dock, making it a popular spot to launch your watercraft.
The Etowah River flows into the southern end of Allatoona Lake, a large reservoir operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The river here is typically calm and navigable, making it well-suited for paddlers looking to explore the lake's shoreline and coves. Boaters can access the main body of the lake from this access point. A day use fee may be required, and season passes are available for purchase on-site.
Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles of the Cherokee Mills site, including the reservable Sweetwater Campground and PAYNE CAMPGROUND-ALLATOONA LAKE, providing convenient options for overnight stays. The nearby Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park also offers additional recreational opportunities for visitors to the area.
