Cherry Creek State Park offers a convenient boat ramp for accessing Cherry Creek Reservoir, a popular destination for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters in the Aurora area. The park has two boat ramps, though currently only the west ramp is open due to low water levels. Paddlers with hand-launched, non-motorized vessels like kayaks and canoes can access the reservoir without using the boat ramp.
The reservoir offers 880 acres of water surface for recreational boating, with a maximum depth of 35 feet. Winds can pick up on the exposed reservoir, so boaters should be prepared for changing conditions. The park charges a $3 Cherry Creek Basic Water Quality Authority fee, which is not included in the new Colorado Parks pass. Nearby recreation areas like the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and Chatfield Lake provide additional opportunities for water-based activities in the region.
