About This Access Site
Cherry Point Landing is a county boat ramp providing access to Bohicket Creek in Charleston County, located on the southern end of Wadmalaw Island. To reach the landing, take State Road 700 east onto Cherry Point Road for approximately 1 mile, then turn right to the ramp. This is a no-frills access point with limited parking, making it best suited for smaller groups or those launching early to secure a spot.

Paddlers and boaters using this landing gain access to Bohicket Creek, a scenic waterway that flows through one of the Southeast's most significant estuarine systems. The area is ideally positioned for exploring the ACE Basin (Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto rivers), one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the East Coast. The adjacent Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge and ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Reserve offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and paddling through protected wetlands and salt marshes. This launch works well for kayakers and canoeists interested in exploring tidal creeks and marshlands, though paddlers should be familiar with tidal conditions in this estuary.
