About This Access Site
Chevelon Canyon Lake is a remote and rugged destination in northern Arizona. While it offers excellent fishing and scenic beauty, accessing the water with boats or kayaks requires significant physical effort. The boat ramp and access site are located approximately 3/4 mile from the parking area down a steep, rough trail. Carrying or transporting any watercraft down this trail can be quite challenging.

Once at the lake, only small, lightweight boats and personal flotation devices are feasible, as there is no vehicle access to the water's edge. Boat motors are restricted to 10 horsepower or less. Paddlers and anglers should be prepared for a strenuous hike in and out, and plan accordingly. Camping is available at the nearby Chevelon Crossing Campground when weather permits, with vault toilets open seasonally. Overall, Chevelon Canyon Lake rewards the most intrepid and well-equipped visitors with a remote, backcountry boating experience.
