About This Access Site
Chilatchee Park provides excellent boat access to the Alabama River and William Dannelly Reservoir, a vast 27-square-mile impoundment with over 500 miles of shoreline. The park features a well-developed boat ramp and courtesy docks, making it an ideal launch site for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters exploring this scenic river system.

The reservoir is known for its abundant fishing opportunities, with bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish populations thriving in the waters. Anglers can take advantage of the fish cleaning stations provided on-site. The surrounding Black Prairie Belt region also offers opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and other outdoor recreation. While the park offers campsites and other amenities, the primary draw for paddlers and boaters is the convenient water access and infrastructure. Before your visit, be sure to check the park's hours and any applicable fees or regulations.
