About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** China Cove is located at Chinamen's Campground on the northern end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, approximately 30 miles east of Helena, Montana. The site is accessed via Montana Highway 284 near Cavetown in Lewis and Clark County. From MT 12/287, turn right onto Spokane Creek Road (marked with a yellow flashing light) and continue 4.6 miles, then turn right onto County Road 430/Canyon Ferry Road to reach the campground.

**Facilities & Boating:** The ramp features a concrete boat launch suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. Canyon Ferry Reservoir offers 33,500 surface acres of water with 96 miles of shoreline, providing excellent paddling opportunities. The area supports strong fishing for rainbow trout, perch, ling, and walleye. Chinamen's Campground is reservable and offers year-round access, with fees charged only during peak season (first weekend of May through second weekend of September). Call 406-475-3921 for reservations and current conditions.

**Additional Resources:** Multiple campgrounds are within 10 miles, including Devil's Elbow, Jo Bonner, and Court Sheriff Campgrounds. Three marina concessions around the reservoir (Goose Bay Marina, Kim's Marina, and Yacht Basin Marina) provide additional services including boat rentals and supplies. The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest is nearby for extended recreation opportunities.

This Campground is located at the very northern end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, 30 miles east of Helena, Montana, along Montana Highway 284 and offers year-round access to a wide range of recreational opportunities. The Canyon Ferry area has a rich mining history. In the 1850’s the gold rush hit the Canyon Ferry area attracting miners from all over the United States in the hopes of striking it rich.  
Recreation
Canyon Ferry Reservoir offers a wide range of year-round recreational opportunities. Water related activities include everything from swimming and fishing to sailing and motor-boating. Canoeists and kayakers explore the many quiet backwater bays. Jet skiers, windsurfers and water skiers skim the summer waves, while winter draws ice fishermen, ice boaters and ice skaters.


Facilities
This Campground has 38 campsites many of the campsites are too small for RVs larger than 20 feet long. The campground has gravel roads with campsites containing a picnic table and a fire ring. During the summer months services include vault toilets, potable water, trash, and a campground host.

This Campground sits at the north end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir between the Big Belt and Elkhorn’s mountain ranges.
