About This Access Site
The China Lake North access point, located in China off Causeway Road, provides convenient public access to the northern end of China Lake's east basin. This concrete boat ramp is 20 feet wide and 57 feet long with a 13.5% grade, accommodating boats up to 20 feet in length. The site includes 11 parking spaces for vehicles and trailers, a floating dock for easier boarding, and restroom facilities.

China Lake consists of two distinct basins: the east basin runs north-south along Route 202 and is narrower, while the west basin is broader and deeper. The north access point puts paddlers and boaters at the start of the scenic east basin. This location works well for kayakers and canoeists seeking a quieter entry point, though paddlers interested in exploring the larger west basin can venture south. With maintained facilities and adequate parking, this is a reliable launch point for recreational paddling and small boat access to the lake.
