About This Access Site
Chinook Landing is a well-developed 67-acre marine park in Fairview offering one of Oregon's largest public boating facilities on the Columbia River. The site features a six-lane boat ramp, disabled-accessible docks, ample parking, flush restrooms, and a seasonal river patrol station. Life jackets are available on-site, and a pikeminnow reward station operates May through September. The park also connects to Portland's 40-mile loop trail system, making it convenient for multi-activity visits.

For kayakers and canoeists, paddling conditions are best during early morning to midday hours, as afternoon traffic from motorboats can make the water choppy. The Columbia River at this location is a large, moderately flowing waterway suitable for various skill levels when conditions are calm. The park includes picnic areas, a small beach access, and grassy viewing areas. Nearby attractions include Fort Vancouver National Historic Site (visible from the park) and Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge, which offers additional paddling and wildlife observation opportunities in the area.
