About This Access Site
Cisco Lake, located in Watersmeet in Michigan's Western Upper Peninsula, offers public boat access as one of four public landings on the Cisco Chain of Lakes. This gravel launch provides paddlers and boaters with entry to a scenic interconnected lake system directly adjacent to the Sylvania Wilderness. The access point is well-suited for kayaks and canoes, making it an excellent starting point for exploring the pristine waters of the chain.

The Cisco Chain consists of 15 interconnected lakes, with public access available on both Cisco and Thousand Island Lake. If you're launching a larger motorboat, note that the Thousand Island Lake access (about 10 minutes north on Thousand Island Lake Road) features a concrete ramp and pier and may be better suited for bigger vessels. From Cisco Lake, paddlers can reach Angler's Isle at the Spring Creek inlet—approximately 1.5 miles from the Mamie Lake access point—making this a gateway for exploring a larger paddling network.

The area offers nearby camping options, including Pomeroy Lake Camp (first-come, first-served basis), Sylvania Wilderness backcountry camping, and Moosehead Lake Camp, all within 10 miles. Plan ahead for current wind and weather conditions using available interactive mapping tools to select your ideal launch location within the chain.
