The Claiborne Damsite East Bank boat ramp provides access to the Alabama River, a major waterway that spans over 300 miles across southwestern Alabama. The ramp features a new two-lane concrete launching area that extends directly into the river channel, making it a convenient access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats.
The Alabama River is a large, powerful waterway with an average flow of nearly 35,000 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 0.4 feet per mile. Boaters should be aware of the river's considerable size and flow when planning trips. The surrounding Claiborne Lake offers over 60 miles of scenic, primitive shoreline to explore. This access site is free to use, though parts of the adjacent recreation area are open to hunting during certain seasons. Paddlers and boaters should check local regulations and conditions before launching.
