The Clarksville Marina boat ramp provides access to the Roanoke River and the expansive John H. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake. This 50,000-acre lake extends 39 miles up the Roanoke River and offers ample opportunities for paddlers, anglers, and motorized boaters.
The boat ramp is located at 411 Fourth Street, south of Virginia Avenue, in the town of Clarksville, Virginia. It features a concrete boat-launching ramp and parking area. The marina also offers a waterside store with gas, snacks, and boat accessories. This site is part of the Occoneechee State Park & Marina, which is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as part of the John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir recreation area.
Paddlers and small boaters can enjoy exploring the scenic, wooded shorelines of the reservoir, which is known for its abundance of fish, including perch, channel catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, and walleye. Shore fishing is permitted along the boat ramp area, as long as it does not interfere with boat traffic. With over 30 public boat launches around the lake, the Clarksville Marina provides a convenient access point for accessing this expansive and well-developed recreational water body.
