About This Access Site
Clay Lick Boat Ramp provides access to Cave Run Lake, an 8,270-acre reservoir nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky. Located on the eastern shore near Morehead, this is a straightforward access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp serves both day-use boaters and those accessing the nearby Clay Lick Boat-In Campground, which features 13 primitive campsites. Note that fishing is not permitted directly from the ramp area, but is allowed once on the water.

**Directions and Practical Details:** From I-64 exit 133, take KY 801 south for 13.7 miles until it merges onto KY 1274. Continue 1.9 miles and turn right onto Forest Service Road 968 (Clay Lick Road) to reach the ramp at road's end. The facility offers parking for both boat trailers and walk-in visitors. The Clay Lick Boat-In Campground is accessible either by water (with boat moorings available) or by an approximately half-mile walk from the parking lot. Several other campgrounds, including Twin Knobs and Boat Gunnel Group Campground, are located within 10 miles if you're planning an extended visit to the area.
