The Clearwater State Recreation Site offers a well-maintained boat ramp providing access to the scenic Delta Clearwater River in Alaska's interior. This medium-sized river has an average flow of around 380 cubic feet per second and a gentle gradient of 3.4 feet per mile, making it an excellent waterway for kayaking, canoeing, and small motorboats.
The boat ramp sits off Clearwater Road east of Delta Junction, with nearby campsites and a picnic area. Boaters and paddlers can explore the clear, fish-rich waters of the Delta Clearwater, which supports populations of Arctic grayling, whitefish, and salmon. After launching, paddlers will enter the Tanana River and should stay on the left shore for 1.5 miles to reach the lake outlet, then paddle 1 mile up the easy current to access the lake. This recreation site provides a great access point to enjoy the natural beauty and abundant wildlife of Alaska's interior waterways.
