The Clute Memorial Park boat launch provides convenient access to the Cayuga-Seneca Canal in Watkins Glen, New York. This site is well-suited for launching canoes, kayaks, and small motorized boats.
To reach the launch, turn into the RV campground off Route 414 and follow the signs for the boat ramp. The ramp is located on the east side of the canal, with ample parking and a grassy staging area nearby. The canal here is roughly 75-100 feet wide, with a moderate current that can be challenging for less experienced paddlers. Boaters should be aware of other recreational traffic, including tour boats and private vessels.
The launch site is in close proximity to the Finger Lakes National Forest and other natural areas, making it a great starting point for exploring the region's scenic waterways. Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles, providing ample options for overnight stays. Paddlers and boaters should review the water trail information and be prepared for changing weather and water conditions when planning their trip.
