About This Access Site
Collins Lake Recreation Area offers a well-equipped boat launch and marina for paddlers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The lake is 1,600 acres in size and is owned by the Browns Valley Irrigation District. The recreation area features a boat ramp, boat rentals, and a general store.

The boat ramp provides easy access to the lake, which is known for its excellent trout fishing opportunities. More than 50,000 trout are stocked in the lake each spring, including many trophy-sized fish. In addition to trout, the lake also has healthy populations of bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish.

Campsites are available at the adjacent Englebright Lake Boat-In Campground, which is reservable through Recreation.gov. This offers paddlers and boaters the opportunity to make a multi-day trip and enjoy the scenic setting of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Overall, Collins Lake Recreation Area is a great destination for those seeking a well-equipped lake access point for their human-powered or small motorized watercraft.
