About This Access Site
Waverly Day Use provides convenient public access to Columbus Lake along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Columbus, Mississippi. The facility features a boat ramp, courtesy dock, fishing dock, and drinking water—making it well-suited for launching kayaks, canoes, and recreational boats. Two rental shelters are available for group gatherings, and the site typically operates from early March through late October.

Columbus Lake sits within the scenic Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, a major navigation corridor connecting the Tennessee River watershed to the Tombigbee River. The waterway offers calm, lake-like conditions ideal for paddlers of varying skill levels. For more information or facility details, contact the Waterway Management Center at 662-245-5500. Recreation
The Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway offers many recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, and swimming. Hunting opportunities can be found on Corps of Engineers land in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as other state managed wildlife management areas along the waterway. Fishing the many varieties of fish on the waterway is a yearlong event, with people fishing along the shoreline or joining in on the many tournaments that are held on the waterway throughout the year. Boating is a popular activity on the waterway and many people enjoy waterskiing, swimming, and other water related activities. Swimming can be enjoyed from your boat or at a designated beach along the waterway.
Facilities
Each shelter provides water, electricity, and picnic tables for your use (except the two shelters at Waverly Day Use do not have electricity). A park host is available at most of the shelters where they can provide additional information if need be.
Natural Features
Waverly Day Use is surrounded by a forest of pines and hardwoods, where deer, many varieties of birds, and squirrels may cross your path. A walking trail takes you along the shoreline of the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway where you can look out over the water and can see fish jumping or a possible otter.
