About This Access Site
The North boat ramp at Conchas Lake State Park provides convenient access to one of New Mexico's largest reservoirs, located just northwest of Tucumcari near the Canadian River and Conchas River arms. This is a well-developed facility with marina services, multiple boat ramps, and nearby amenities including the Central Campground and concessionaire stores stocked with fishing and boating supplies. The North Area features five public boat ramps total, making it a reliable launch point for various watercraft.

From this access point, paddlers and boaters can explore approximately 11 miles of the scenic Conchas River arm or venture into 14 miles of the South Canadian River portion of the lake. The lake is known for its secluded coves, canyons, and sandy beaches, with the widest section (approximately 2.5 miles) occurring about 4 miles west of Conchas Dam—a popular area for water sports. The relatively large surface area and diverse shoreline make this ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating.

For campers, the South Area Campground is located within 10 miles, and shoreline primitive camping is available adjacent to the park. The facility is well-equipped for day-use and overnight recreation, making it an accessible starting point for exploring this substantial New Mexico waterway.
