About This Access Site
Conley Creek provides access to Freemason Creek, a small headwater stream in Caldwell County, NC. This creek flows through a relatively steep terrain with an average gradient of 37.3 feet per mile, dropping 174 feet over its 4.67-mile length. The access point is located at the lower end of Conley Creek where it meets the watershed system that eventually flows 386 miles to the river mouth.

Freemason Creek is a modest stream with an average flow of about 12.24 cubic feet per second and average velocity of 0.93 feet per second, making it suitable for paddling during normal water conditions. The creek's headwater status and stream order of 3 indicate it is in the upper portion of the watershed, so water levels can vary seasonally. Paddlers should be prepared for the steeper gradient and potential for faster current, particularly after rainfall events.

This access point serves small boat and paddling activities. Given the creek's size and gradient, kayakers and canoeists should have intermediate skills to handle the terrain effectively. Water conditions can change based on seasonal precipitation, so checking current conditions before paddling is recommended.
