About This Access Site
Conrad Jaeger Park in McFarland offers excellent access to the Yahara River for kayakers and canoeists. The park features a public boat launch, canoe rack, small fishing dock, and a walk-in kayak ramp, making it convenient for both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. A new accessible floating kayak launch and accessible fishing pier have recently been added to improve paddler access. The park is located on Jaeger Road along the river and is named after conservation-minded local resident Conrad Jaeger.

This lower section of the Yahara River between Lake Waubesa and Lake Kegonsa is an ideal paddling destination for those seeking calm, slow-wake water conditions. The area features scenic wildlife viewing opportunities near Thurn Marsh and several cultural and historical points of interest, including a Native American fish weir and the historic Dyreson Road steel truss bridge. The Jaeger Hiking and Biking Trail connects the park to surrounding areas, making it a good spot for a multi-activity outing. This is a great launching point for leisurely paddles along this peaceful river corridor.
