About This Access Site
Cossayuna Lake in South Argyle offers a public boat launch with a hard concrete ramp (20 feet wide) suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small to medium-sized motorboats. The launch is located off East Shore Road near County Route 49 and provides parking for approximately 30 vehicles. This 661-acre lake features a maximum depth of 25 feet and roughly 8 miles of shoreline with one large island, making it a scenic paddling destination in Washington County.

Paddlers should be aware that the lake experiences moderate recreational use, particularly on sunny summer days when motorboat traffic can be heavy. Recent reports indicate the lake has aquatic vegetation issues, including Eurasian Watermilfoil and Curly-leaf Pondweed, which may affect paddling conditions. The site offers public fishing access and is home to various fish species including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and tiger muskellunge. Wheelchair-accessible features are available at the White Lane Parking Area. For current conditions and additional details, contact the New York DEC or visit the Washington County boat launch sites page.
