Cottage Grove

**Location & Access**
The Cottage Grove launch ramp is located at 2912 Lakeshore Drive in Muskegon, near the end of Cottage Grove and just west of the former Sappi paper mill property. This is one of the City of Muskegon's four public boat ramps and serves as the city's most popular launch facility. **Note: A permit is required to use this launch.**

**What to Expect**
This ramp provides straightforward access to Muskegon Lake for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. The facility accommodates a range of watercraft, from fishing boats and sailboats to paddling craft. Given its popularity and location in the Lakeside area, expect moderate activity, especially during peak fishing and recreation seasons. The ramp is suitable for most boaters but may see congestion during busy periods.

Before heading out, verify current permit requirements and any seasonal closures through the City of Muskegon Parks & Recreation Department. This launch is ideal for exploring Muskegon Lake but is not a river access point—despite its listing as a Muskegon River site, the ramp accesses the lake system rather than the river itself.
