About This Access Site
Cottonwood Meadow Campground provides a convenient single boat ramp and dock on Cottonwood Lake in Lake County, Oregon. The access point is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and anglers looking to explore the lake and surrounding waterways. The campground offers 25 primitive campsites on a gently sloping, tree-covered hillside with one ADA-accessible site, making it suitable for overnight trips or day-use access.

Facilities at the campground include a public boat ramp, dock, restrooms, group shelter, and picnic area. Note that water is not available at the campground itself, so bring adequate drinking water and supplies. The site operates on a first-come, first-served basis and fills up quickly on weekends, particularly with anglers. If the campground is full, dispersed camping is permitted along nearby County Road 344 starting about 1 mile west of the facility.

The location provides access to both Cottonwood Lake and the scenic surrounding area. Nearby recreation opportunities include the Dinosaur Hiking Trail at the campground and the Lakeview to Steens Mountain National Back Country Byway, which traverses the Warner Mountains and Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge. This makes Cottonwood Meadow a good base for combining paddling with hiking and wildlife viewing in the region.
