About This Access Site
Cougar Camp and Park provides day-use and overnight camping access to Yale Reservoir on the Lewis River. The facility offers a boat ramp, picnic area, swim beach, parking, and restrooms. Kayakers, canoeists, and paddle boarders are welcome. The site is located along Highway 503 East near Cougar, Cowlitz County, making it convenient for water access in southwestern Washington.

**Important Note:** The boat ramp at Cougar Camp is frequently out of service due to Yale Reservoir's fluctuating water levels, as the dam operator (PacifiCorp) regularly adjusts lake levels. Before planning a visit, contact the facility directly to confirm ramp availability. Launch fees are required on weekends. Alternative boat ramps exist at Saddle Dam, Yale, and Beaver Bay, though all are subject to the same water-level constraints.

The reservoir is popular for Kokanee fishing and recreational boating. Overnight camping is available and reservable at the campground, making it a good base for multi-day paddling trips when water conditions permit.
