About This Access Site
County Ramp provides boat launch access to Prineville Reservoir on the Crooked River in the scenic Juniper Canyon area south of Prineville. This is one of six official boat ramps serving the reservoir, making it a convenient option for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The location offers access to a substantial reservoir system created by Bowman Dam, providing calm water conditions ideal for paddling and recreational boating.

This day-use area is free to access with no reservation required. The site is located approximately 16 miles south of Prineville via Highway 27 toward Bowman Dam. Nearby amenities include three campgrounds within 10 miles (Palisades, Poison Butte, and Post Pile), as well as additional boat ramps at Jasper Point, Powderhouse Cove, and Roberts Bay if you're exploring launch options. Amenities The trail is near Chimney Rock campground, with toilets and potable water near campsite 8. Pets are allowed but should on leash -- and please pack out any waste!Point of Interest:This part of the Lower Crooked River has 9 campgrounds and 2 day-use areas.
