About This Access Site
The Coval Gann access point on the Grand River near Chillicothe provides a concrete boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This is a major river system (Stream Order 8) with substantial flow averaging 5,442 cubic feet per second and moderate current of approximately 2.7 feet per second. Vault toilet facilities and parking are available at the site.

Paddlers should be aware that the Grand River is a large, powerful waterway with a 2.9 ft/mile average gradient. Water levels and flow rates are subject to seasonal variation and flooding, so conditions can change significantly. The river has a 671-foot total elevation drop over its 233-mile length, creating dynamic conditions that require appropriate skill levels and awareness of current. Launching and landing boats are permitted 24 hours a day at this access area, though general area access is limited to 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Check current water conditions and river levels before your trip.
