Located at 799 Beechwood Road in Wilmington, the East End Ramp provides convenient access to Cowan Lake, a 700-acre impoundment. This ramp is one of three launch facilities surrounding the lake and offers two small docks alongside the ramp itself. The East End location is particularly popular with paddlers interested in exploring the lotus beds that thrive in this area of the lake.
Cowan Lake State Park features good facilities for multiple water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating. The park has two boat ramps available—this East End location and an additional ramp off Yankee Road on the south side—making it easy to choose your launch point depending on where you want to paddle. Boat and equipment rentals (including kayaks and canoes) are available through the South Shore Marina concession, making this a good option for visitors without their own gear. The lake is well-suited for recreational paddling and fishing from boats.
