The Crescent City (Whaler Island) boat ramp provides direct access to the protected Crescent City Harbor, located along the Northern California coast. This is a public access site well-suited for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.
The boat ramp is situated within the Crescent City Harbor, which has been recently rebuilt with modern amenities for recreational boaters and commercial fishermen. The harbor offers 240 slips ranging from 30 to 70 feet in length, as well as side-tie moorage for vessels up to 175 feet long. Nearby facilities include the Crescent City Information Center, which offers a picnic area and retail sales.
For those seeking additional recreation, the Mill Creek Campground and Jedediah Smith Campground are located within 10 miles of the boat ramp. The nearby Castle Rock National Wildlife Refuge, located about half a mile offshore, also offers opportunities for exploration by water. Paddlers and boaters can expect calm, protected waters within the Crescent City Harbor when launching from this access site.
