Crossett Harbor provides a convenient public boat ramp access point to the Ouachita River in southeastern Arkansas. The Ouachita River is a major waterway, running over 500 miles across Arkansas and Louisiana before joining the Mississippi River. At this location, the river is classified as a headwater stream with an average gradient of 3 feet per mile and an average flow of around 27,700 cubic feet per second.
The boat ramp is part of the Crossett Harbor Recreation Area, which is managed as part of the Ouachita-Black River - Felsenthal Pool project. This provides easy access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters to explore the expansive Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge and surrounding waterways. While overnight camping is not available at Crossett Harbor, the nearby Crossett Harbor RV Park offers a convenient base for those looking to spend multiple days on the river.
