About This Access Site
Curtis Creek Public Use Area, located in the southwest section of Milford Lake near Alida, offers a two-lane boat ramp providing access to the Republican River. This gravel ramp is designed for small boats and canoes, making it an ideal launch point for paddlers. The facility is part of Curtis Creek Park, a full-service campground situated on a peninsula with scenic views of Milford Lake and Milford Dam. To reach the ramp from I-70, take exit 290 north for 5 miles to K-837, then continue west on K-837 for 6 miles to the park entrance.

The Republican River at this location is a large, meandering waterway (Stream Order 7) with an average flow of approximately 1,048 cubic feet per second and moderate gradient of 4.8 feet per mile. Expect moderate current and typical conditions for a large prairie river system. The park provides additional amenities including a playground and beach access, though swimming may be restricted due to water quality concerns. For current conditions, operational details, and campground reservations, contact the facility at 785-238-5714. Note that this ramp provides access to the Republican River specifically; additional lake access points exist at Clay County Park and Mall Creek Parking Area if needed.
