The Dam access site is located at the **Tailwater Day Use Area** on the Nolin River below Nolin River Lake Dam and Spillway, near Mammoth Cave in Edmonson County. A **paved boat ramp** provides convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The facility is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers restrooms, picnic tables, playgrounds, and a reservable group shelter. To reach the site, take KY 259 north of Brownsville, turn right on KY 728, and follow signs to the tailwater area.
This location offers excellent paddling opportunities on the scenic Nolin River with direct access to Mammoth Cave National Park. The Nolin River Lake system maintains one of the state's lowest drowning rates and attracts over two million annual visitors. Nearby marina services at Moutardier, Ponderosa, and Wax Marinas provide boat rentals and supplies if needed. **Note:** Check current conditions before visiting, as the ramp has experienced temporary closures due to reduced water levels from past dam issues.
