About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** The Dam Site access is located in Oconto Falls, Oconto County, and provides public boat launch access to Oconto Falls Pond via Tar Dam Road. This is a maintained DNR boat access point—take out here before the posted Tar Dam Road Bridge if paddling downstream.

**Water Conditions & Recreation:** Oconto Falls Pond is a 180-acre impoundment with a maximum depth of 28 feet, offering calm water suitable for kayakers and canoeists. The pond is stocked with panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and northern pike, making it popular for fishing and paddling. Nearby facilities include a county park with picnic areas, swimming beach, restrooms, and parking. Paddlers heading toward Chute Pond should hug the left shore and round the point past the county park beach—expect a 30-45 minute paddle to reach that area.

**Upstream Considerations:** If exploring the Oconto River system upstream from this access point (via Smythe Road), be aware there are two sets of whitewater rapids to navigate. Always check current water conditions and plan your route accordingly before launching.
