About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Dam Site South is a boat ramp providing access to the Republican River at Milford Lake near Junction City in Geary County, Kansas. This gravel ramp is designed for small boats and is part of the Acorns Resort recreation area. Note that this ramp provides **Republican River access only** and does not accommodate motorized engines—making it ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and non-motorized boaters.

**River Conditions:** The Republican River is a large, flowing waterway (Stream Order 7) with an average flow of approximately 1,048 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 4.78 feet per second. The river maintains a moderate gradient of 4.8 feet per mile. Paddlers should be prepared for consistent current and plan accordingly for their skill level and boat type. The ramp's small-boat design makes it well-suited for canoes and kayaks rather than larger motorized vessels.

**Nearby Resources:** Milford Lake is Kansas's largest man-made lake with 163 miles of shoreline and 14 public boat ramps available throughout the area. The Milford Education Center and Fish Hatchery are located below the dam. For operational details, facility hours, or additional access information, contact Ft. Riley at (785) 239-6211 or check with the Kansas City District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
