The Damascus Access Area is a well-developed boat ramp facility located on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River in Wayne County, just downstream of the Cochecton-Damascus Bridge (River Mile 298.5). This is a popular put-in and take-out point for paddlers exploring the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River. The facility offers parking, a boat ramp, mooring, trash disposal, and sanitary facilities—making it a convenient hub for day trips and longer paddling adventures.
The Delaware River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow (averaging over 30,000 cubic feet per second) and a moderate gradient of 2.7 feet per mile. Paddlers can expect a mix of gentle pools and Class I-II rapids as the river winds through scenic valley terrain. The area is suitable for canoeists, kayakers, and motorboats. When arriving by water to take out at Damascus, watch for the ramp on the Pennsylvania (right) side of the river immediately after passing under the bridge.
Before planning your trip, check the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission website for any seasonal closures or maintenance updates that may affect access.
