Deal Island

The Deal Island Boat Ramp provides convenient water access to Upper Thorofare Creek in Somerset County. Located on Ralph Abbott Road in the historic Deal Island area, this facility offers a single launching lane, courtesy dock, parking for approximately 20 boat trailers, and portable restrooms. A pump-out station is also available. The ramp is managed by the Somerset County Roads Department and serves as a good put-in point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats exploring the Upper Thorofare waterway.

Upper Thorofare Creek is a tidal estuary typical of Maryland's Eastern Shore, offering calm waters suitable for paddling and fishing. The area near the boat ramp features a small beach near the bridge crossing Upper Thorofare, adding to the recreational opportunities. Nearby paddlers can also explore the Glenn Martin National Wildlife Refuge (4,548 acres), which provides scenic wildlife viewing opportunities.
