The Debutary boat ramp, located north of Great Falls off US Highway 21 in rural Fairfield County, SC, provides access to Fishing Creek Lake (also known as Fishing Creek Reservoir). This Duke Power Company–operated facility features a paved boat ramp and parking area, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The reservoir spans 3,431 acres with 85 miles of shoreline and reaches depths up to 100 feet, offering plenty of water to explore.
Fishing Creek is a large river system (stream order 6) with a 108-mile length and significant drainage area of 890 square miles. The reservoir sits between Lake Wateree and Fishing Creek Lake, creating a relatively calm paddling environment compared to the flowing river itself. Average flow conditions are robust at 936 cubic feet per second, making for generally stable water levels. The lake is well-maintained for recreation, with three boat ramps available throughout the system and five fish attractors marked for anglers.
The area is popular for both fishing and paddling, with healthy populations of largemouth bass, striped bass, black crappie, bream, and catfish. Be aware that this is a managed reservoir in an active power generation system, so water levels may fluctuate seasonally. Contact Duke Energy or the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for current conditions before your trip.
