Deep Creek Boat Ramp provides convenient access to the Kootenai River near Bonners Ferry in northern Idaho. Located within the scenic Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge alongside the Selkirk Mountains, this launch serves kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The ramp features multiple launch options with varying sizes to accommodate different vehicle types, from standard trailers to small RVs, all situated directly on the river.
Before launching, be aware that Idaho requires all boats to display an Invasive Species Fund (IISF) sticker. Idaho-registered boats include this sticker with registration; out-of-state boaters should budget $22 for motorized vessels or $7 for non-motorized craft. A launch fee applies at Kootenai County's boat ramps. The area tends to be quieter during weekday evenings and offers a relatively peaceful paddling experience within the refuge setting.
Smith Lake Campground is available nearby (within 10 miles) for those planning a multi-day trip. For specific current fees, hours, and facility conditions, contact the Kootenai County Parks office at 255-5681 or visit the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation website.
