Deep Creek Lake State Park offers a convenient public boat launch facility centrally located on Maryland's largest freshwater lake in Garrett County. This is the primary public access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters launching their own vessels. The ramp operates 24 hours daily (weather permitting) and provides free boat trailer parking, freshwater fill-up, and dump station facilities. Note that a launch fee applies each visit, or you can use a valid Maryland lake use permit.
The central location of this ramp makes it an ideal starting point for exploring Deep Creek Lake regardless of where you're staying. Overnight dock slip use is available on a first-come, first-served basis for state park campers only. The park's Discovery Center offers additional educational resources about the area. If you prefer not to launch your own boat, local marinas in the area also offer launching services and rental options. Plan to arrive during daylight hours for the most convenient access, and check current conditions before your visit.
