About This Access Site
**Location & Access:**
Deep Landing is a premier public boat ramp located in Grantsville, Queen Anne's County, on the eastern shore of the Chester River near historic Chestertown. The site is accessed via Deep Landing Road, approximately 1.6 miles north from the McGinnis Road intersection. This 1.0-acre facility features two 34-foot-wide launching ramps suitable for various vessel types including kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.

**Paddling Opportunities:**
The Chester River offers diverse paddling in both directions from this access point. Heading upstream, paddlers can explore scenic farm country and reach the village of Crumpton (1.5+ miles) before the river narrows into tree-lined forests and fringe marshland. Downstream, the landscape opens to expansive farmland with the historic 18th-century port town of Chestertown located 7 miles away. The area is rich in history, sitting near the site of Maryland's oldest English settlement (Kent Fort, 1631).

**Usage & Planning:**
Deep Landing is one of the most heavily used public ramps on the Queen Anne's County side of the lower Chester River, particularly during warm-weather months. Plan accordingly for summer weekends and consider visiting during off-peak times if you prefer quieter paddling. A Queen Anne's County Public Landing Permit is required to use this facility.
