About This Access Site
The Narrowsburg Access Area provides public boat launch access to the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River near River Mile 290 in Sullivan County, NY. This hard surface ramp can accommodate approximately 30 cars and trailers. The site offers a convenient entry point for kayakers and canoeists exploring this scenic stretch of the Delaware River, which features a mix of calm pools and manageable rapids winding through beautiful valley scenery.

Paddlers should be prepared for a major river system with significant flow and current. The Delaware River averages over 30,000 cubic feet per second with a velocity of roughly 3 feet per second, so this is not a beginner's float. The river's average gradient of 2.7 feet per mile creates varying conditions depending on recent rainfall and season. Water levels can change substantially, so checking current conditions before paddling is essential.

Access to the Upper Delaware offers excellent opportunities for multi-day canoe trips and day paddles, with numerous other access points nearby for shuttle trips. Note that no fee or permit is required to launch unpowered boats (kayaks and canoes) from this New York State access point, making it an accessible option for recreational paddlers exploring this historic river corridor.
