About This Access Site
Demumbers Bay offers a public boat ramp on Lake Barkley near Kuttawa in Lyon County. The access point is located at Eureka Campground (1802 St. Rt. 1271, Kuttawa, KY 42055), a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility that provides convenient launch facilities for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp is situated on this scenic impoundment of the Cumberland River, which offers calm, protected waters ideal for paddling and fishing. From Nashville, take I-24 West to Exit 40, then follow Highway 62 West for 2.9 miles before turning onto Highway 810, then State Route 1271 to the campground.

Eureka Campground offers amenities beyond the boat ramp, including a 2.5-mile trail system (Chestnut Oaks Trail) for hikers and bikers, making it a good base for a paddling trip. Lake Barkley is known for excellent fishing opportunities—Kentucky's largest yellow bass was caught here. The facility is reservable, and additional information is available by calling 270-388-9459. Nearby recreation areas include Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge and Land Between the Lakes. Note that the campground does not have ADA accessibility facilities, though specific ramp accessibility details should be confirmed in advance.
