About This Access Site
Dewitts Bluff is a public boat launch providing access to the Great Pee Dee River in Florence County, South Carolina. The ramp features parking and a courtesy dock, making it convenient for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. This landing is part of the SC Revolutionary Rivers Water Trail and is designated as a State Scenic River, offering paddlers the opportunity to explore a historically and environmentally significant waterway.

The Great Pee Dee River in this section begins with relatively straight, leisurely stretches past densely forested banks. Downstream from Dunham Bluff, the river becomes more dynamic, winding through tight bends and around large sandbars—conditions that add variety to the paddling experience. The site has recently been improved with erosion control measures, including a new seawall. Visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, birding, and wildlife viewing in this scenic Atlantic Coastal Plain setting. Paddlers should be prepared for changing river conditions as you move downstream from the launch point.
