Mississippi River, Dresbach Water Access Site

The Dresbach boat ramp provides access to Pool 7 of the Upper Mississippi River in La Crescent, Minnesota, near the scenic Upper Mississippi River Valley between Trempealeau, Wisconsin and Dresbach. This is a major river access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters launching onto one of North America's most substantial waterways. Note that parking permits may be required for non-residents of Dresbach—check locally before your visit.

The Mississippi River at this location is a powerful, major waterway with an average flow of over 685,000 cubic feet per second and average current velocity of 11.24 feet per second. The river maintains a gentle average gradient of 0.8 feet per mile through this section. Paddlers should be prepared for significant current and recreational boat traffic. Pool 7 offers opportunities for both day trips and longer paddling adventures, with nearby access points and Corps of Engineers project lands providing additional recreational options in the area.
