The East Machias River boat ramp is located off Route 9 in East Machias, providing one of the few public access points to this scenic downeast Maine waterway. To reach the ramp from Beddington, head east on Route 9 for approximately 11 miles, then turn left just as Route 9 makes a sharp right turn. Continue for about 8 miles along the river on Stud Mill Road to reach the access point.
This launch serves kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats looking to explore the East Machias River corridor. The area is known for its natural beauty and abundant wildlife, including moose and bears—observe all wildlife from a safe distance and avoid disturbing animals. Drive slowly on local roads, especially during low-light conditions, and be prepared for a somewhat remote setting with minimal nearby amenities.
